Durban North woman held up by armed men

Durban North SAPS warned residents to be on the lookout for red VW Golf.

A DURBAN North resident was held up by two men at her home in Adrienne Avenue yesterday afternoon. The incident occurred at about 3.20pm. According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS,  the resident was confronted by the suspects who were armed with handguns.

“The resident was vacuuming her car when she heard the dogs barking. She walked over to her front garden and realised her electric gate was open. She then tried to use her beeper to close the gate, which didn’t work. She then spotted man coming towards her with the gun pointed at her. She managed to run inside and slam her security gate shut.

“She ran to the back of the house where a second man also armed confronted her. He then forced her back into the house. The suspects stole a TV and an iPad and were spotted fleeing in a red VW Golf,” he explained.

A car matching this description was also involved in an armed mugging of a domestic worker on Saturday.

“The domestic worker was walking along Campbell Drive when a red VW Golf drove past her surreptitiously. The car then made a U-turn further up the road and drove towards her. A man armed with a handgun pointed the gun at her and demanded her valuables. He made off with her handbag and her cellphone,” he said.
