Taxi blaze leaves six injured

Taxi overturns near Queen Nandi Drive turn-off, catches fire.

SIX people were injured after three vehicles collided along Queen Nandi Drive near the Newlands West turn-off this morning. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, exact details of the accident are speculative however, the taxi seems to have overturned on impact and burst into flames.

“Fortunately, the commuters managed to clamber from the wreckage with only minor injuries. Netcare 911 paramedics, the fire service and several other services arrived at the scene and found that taxi engulfed in flames.

“After they were treated, they were transported to hospital by paramedics from various private services while fire fighters battled the fire. The roadway remained closed until emergency personnel managed to clear the wreckages and debris from the road surface,” he said.
