uMhlanga businesswoman held up at knife-point

Armed men held up an employee in uMhlanga and stole goods, then locked her in office before they escaped.

AN uMhlanga businesswoman was held down by an armed suspect who placed a knife to the back of her neck during a robbery yesterday. The incident occurred at a financial consulting office on Lighthouse Road at about 5.30pm on Monday evening.

According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the woman was the last person to leave the office and she noticed two men enter the premises.

“The men approached her and ordered her to lie face-down on the floor. One of the men then held her down and placed a knife to the back of her neck, while his accomplice looked around the office for items to steal. The suspects made off with her laptop, cellphone and handbag. They then locked her in the office and fled on foot,” he said.

Deokaran said there were no injuries reported and urged businesses to be vigilant.
