Gang fires AK47 as they flee scene

When a neighbour disturbed a gang of robbers they allegedly fired shots into the air as they fled the scene.

THE chilling sound of gun shots rang through the Durban North air as a gang of alleged house robbers fled a Blue Ridge Road property earlier today.

The four men were reportedly caught in the act as they were attempting to break into a Durban North home. Eye witnesses reported seeing at least one suspect armed with an AK47.

Tyron Powell of Marshall Security said their efforts were thwarted when a neighbour spotted and disturbed them.

“It is believed that the men fired into the air as they fled the scene. That is when we received several calls regarding the incident,” said Powell.

The incident come just a day after the Durban North Field Detectives Unit were involved in a gun battle with suspects found in possession of a police issued radio, a flat screen TV and various other tools that police believe is used commonly used for breaking and entering.

No injuries were reported and the suspects are said to have escaped in a white unknown vehicle.
