PINC to host cocktails for cancer event

Local resident Lisa Campos urges residents to get involved in charity fundraiser.

PEOPLE Investing in Needs of Communities (PINC) will host a cocktails for cancer event called ‘Manicures & Martinis’. The event takes place at the Sandbar on Thursday 29 October in eMdloti. Lisa Smart-Campos, founder of the NPO, is urging local residents to get involved in this year’s Miss event, which will be a first in South Africa.

The event will act as fundraiser for PINC in aid of cancer youth awareness as well the bra and panties collection drive.

“Its an evening where women can enjoy two things: the love, but also raising funds for a worthy cause. There will be free cocktails, free manicures and massages and platters and ladies will learn how to check for breast lumps. It’s a party for a purpose and I’m also urging ladies to bring toiletries and sanitary items for the dignity bag, which is part of the bra and panty drive.

“I started the drive because I noticed far too many young girls had no undergarments when going to school or in the local informal settlements I visited. It’s about giving these girls dignity and sense of respect and safety for themselves, to empower them as young ladies and give them a gift of a feminine ladies’ garment set,” she said.

Tickets for the event cost R350 per person. To book, e-mail pr@pinc.org.za. The event takes place on Thursday, 29 October at Sandbar in eMdloti from 5pm to 7pm.
