La Lucia housebreakers arrested
La Lucia house break-in leads to foot chase and arrest.
TWO men, believed to be housebreakers, were arrested on Friday afternoon after breaking into a house in Gordon Drive, La Lucia. A foot chase by a local security company saw both men nabbed at about 4pm. The men were found with a number of stolen items and have been handed over to Durban North SAPS.
According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, whose company made the arrest the two men were spotted acting suspiciously in Ambleside Avenue.
“While patrolling one of the response officers was stopped by the owner of a property in Gordon Drive who said he had been working in his garage when he saw two males running up his driveway from his house. They had broken into his home and stolen various items including laptops and a table, he gave us a description of the items and the suspects.
“Our vehicles patrolled the area but without success till at around 4pm another of our street guards from a neighboring street patrol reported that there were two suspicious men on Ambleside Avenue. When the suspects saw our vehicle the began to run but were soon apprehended,” he said.
The items that were taken included two laptops and a tablet were also recovered.
“The suspects are known to our staff as they have arrested them before. They were handed over to SAPS Durban North to be charged.”
The incident follows another robbery in La Lucia where a 73-year-old woman was robbed by masked men.
