One dead, scores injured in Redhill accident

One of the drivers suffered a fatal heart attack after the collision.

ONE person was killed and several others were injured following a serious collision on the R102, Chris Hani Road, Redhill this afternoon.

Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen said paramedics and other emergency services arrived on scene to find absolute mayhem.

“Three light motor vehicles had collided in the vicinity of the N2 bridge, with one of the vehicles overturning.

“The driver of the overturned vehicle was found unconscious and in a state of cardiac arrest. Advanced life support intervention was quickly administered and after a lengthy effort of CPR however, her injuries were too severe and she was declared dead on scene,” he said.

A driver from one of the other vehicles involved was trapped in his vehicle.

Three others suffered minor to moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being taken by ambulance to various nearby hospitals.
