Glenhills man falls from tree, fighting for his life

The tree-feller fell from about eight metres before landing on his back.

AN unregistered tree-feller is fighting for his life after falling out of a tree he was trying to cut down in Glenhills on Friday morning. According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, the incident occurred on Allamanda Road at about 10.40am.

“Reports from the scene indicate that the man was about eight metres up the tree when he slipped and fell, his body hitting the concrete below. Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the man lying on the pavement with life-threatening injuries.

“The medical team worked fervently to stabilise the man at the scene. After placing him on a ventilator, they immobilised the critically-wounded patient on a trauma board before transporting him to a Durban hospital,” he said.

Earlier this morning, a female passenger suffered severe head injuries during a head-on collision in Redhill.
