Pedestrian killed in N2 accident

Pedestrian struck by vehicle on freeway has a heart attack and dies from his injuries.

A MAN believed to be in his twenties was killed after he was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross the busy N2 highway this afternoon. According to Crisis Medical’s Kyle van Reenen the man was declared dead on scene.

“Paramedics arrived on the scene on the N2 south bound in the vicinity of the M25, shortly after 3.30pm, to find the man lying in the roadway having suffered critical injuries. On further examination it was discovered that the man was in a state of cardiac arrest. Advanced life support intervention was quickly administered and CPR was attempted. The man however, sadly succumbed to his injury and was declared dead on scene.

“The driver of the vehicle involved did not suffer any injuries. The facts pertaining to the incident are not clear and will form part of a SAPS investigation. Traffic was severely affected as emergency services worked to clear the scene,” he said.
