Further repercussions for Minter-Brown

Following his dismissal from a local radio station, Kevin Minter-Brown has now lost his sponsorship deal with an uMhlanga car dealership.

AFTER radio personality Kevin Minter Brown’s contract with East Coast Radio was terminated with the popular radio station, news has filtered through that McCarthy VW Umhlanga had terminated its sponsorship relationship with him.

In a statement on its Facebook page, the car dealership said it in no way endorsed Minter-Brown’s comments following an insensitive comment about the deaths of two cyclists killed on the M4 on Sunday.

“Due to the unfortunate comments posted by Kevin Minter Brown on Facebook on Monday, 8 February 2016, McCarthy VW Umhlanga, on the advice of its attorneys, has elected to terminate its sponsorship relationship with Mr Minter Brown.

“Whilst McCarthy VW Umhlanga accepts Mr Minter Brown’s apology posted on the 9 February, it in no way endorses, concurs with or ratifies, the comments expressed or alluded to by Mr Minter Brown in respect of the tragic deaths of Mr Jared Dwyer and Mr Richard Da Silva and makes no comments directly or by implication on sporting activities taking place on the roads of our country. Regrettably therefore, McCarthy VW Umhlanga will no longer be continuing its relationship with Mr Minter Brown,” the statement said.

The dealership also extended its heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families of the tragic accident which occurred on the weekend.
