5 injured in N2 crash

It is believed that one of the drivers lost control of his vehicle as he swerved to avoid a pedestrian.

FIVE people were injured in a head-on collision along the N2 near the KwaMashu off-ramp earlier this afternoon. It is believed one of the drivers, travelling south, lost control of his vehicle as he swerved to avoid a pedestrian, said Neil Powell of Crisis Medical.

Powell said this seemed to have caused the vehicle to veer into the northbound lane causing it to crash into oncoming traffic.

“On arrival paramedics found that three light motor vehicles had collided at high speeds resulting in multiple casualties on scene,” he said.

“The five occupants of the vehicles sustained mild to moderate injuries and we’re transported to various hospitals,” added Powell.
