SPCA invites you to the ‘purr-fect’ sushi dinner date
Through the event the SPCA hopes to raise awareness regarding their cause, as well as their beloved yard cats.
THE Durban & Coast SPCA staff are spreading the word regarding their beloved yard cats – a group of 13 friendly feral felines that have made the SPCA grounds their home. To do this, the animal welfare organisation is set to host an all-you-can-eat sushi evening in May.
“Many people don’t know about the yard cats. Only our loyal supporters know of them and we are hoping to encourage some new sponsors to take on some of the kitties,” said Lindsey Concer, spokesperson for animal rights group. “We will never be able to put them up for adoption and so we allow them to stay on the premises. They act as our mascots and entertain some of our guests at the coffee shop,” she added.
What’s more, said Concer, was that they hoped to also attract a new crowd of people through the event. “Our aim was to offer something new, something that would also appeal to a different group of people. There are still many people that don’t know where we are or what we do, and through this event we hope to educate them,” she said.
The event will be held on Thursday, 5 May at the Coffee Cats Café (2 Willowfield Crescent, Springfield Park) at 6.30pm.
Entrance costs R300 per person, which includes three hours of all the Tashiky Sushi you can eat, a welcome drink on arrival, a goodie bag, dessert and fabulous prizes. A cash bar will also be available. Contact Lindsey via e-mail at lindsey@spcadbn.org.za or 031 579 6546.
