Taxi crashes into wall on North Coast Road, one dead

Helicopter airlifts patient after North Coast Road accident.

ONE person was killed and 12 others were injured after a taxi ploughed into two street vendors on a pavement and crashed into a wall. The accident happened on the corner of Nandi Drive and North Coast Road on Friday morning.

“One of the street vendors had already died due to the extensive injuries he sustained. Netcare911 paramedics declared the man dead on scene.The other street vendor was found to be in a critical condition, he was intubated and airlifted to a trauma 1 facility for further medical care.Reports from the scene indicate that seven people who were passengers in the taxi sustained minor injuries, while four people sustained moderate injuries,” said Netcare 911 spokesman, Athlenda Mathe.
