Resident assaulted in Prestondale robbery

The men were all wearing balaclavas and one of the suspects was armed with a crowbar.

A MAN was assaulted by four suspects, one of whom was armed with a crowbar, on Sunday on Preston Drive. According to Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the incident occurred at about 1pm.

“The victim was at home studying when he heard a loud crash through the front door. He noticed four men, all wearing balaclavas, and one carrying a crowbar. They demanded to know where the safe was, when the victim didn’t answer they assaulted him. They then put a towel over his head and led him into his uncle’s room where he was once again assaulted.

“They hit him over the head and then threw him to the ground and ordered him to remain silent. They made off with a number of items, including two flat-screen TVs, two laptops, watches, an iPhone, a cold coin, and the armed men also took the safe. There have been no arrests so far,” he said.
