Man stabbed to death in Glen Anil robbery

The victim was confronted by four armed men during a robbery at a business on Columbine Place.

A MAN was stabbed to death in what is believed to be a robbery at an industrial site in Glen Anil on Thursday night. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the murder occurred on Columbine Place at about 8.30pm.

“He sustained multiple stab wounds. It is believed he was confronted by four armed men attempting to rob the business premises. They stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene on foot. It is unknown at this stage what was stolen. The suspects remain at large,” he said.

The scene has been handed over to the Greenwood Park SAPS.

According to Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, the man was declared dead on scene.

“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the 70-year-old man lying on the ground. Tragically, he died at the scene due to the extensive injuries that he sustained,” he said.

In February, a suspect was shot dead by a security guard on Columbine Place.
