Dismembered body on M4 thought to be ‘hit-and-run’
The man's head and body had been run over several times by other cars.
POLICE are investigating another possible ‘hit-and-run’ case on the M4. Paramedics attending to an accident scene on the freeway, near the Moses Mabhida Stadium, discovered a body missing its head. It is believed the victim had been killed in an alleged hit-and-run and the body had been run over several times which led to an accident.
Police have not been able to identify the body.
It is believed the driver of the vehicle had swerved to avoid a dead body laying across the busy highway. Chris Botha of Netcare 911 confirmed they had discovered the dismembered body when they treated the occupants of the vehicle.
“The driver of the vehicle swerved to avoid the body and collided with the armco barrier. They sustained minor injuries. The dead body they had avoided was dismembered. The incident occurred on the M4, going south, at about 2.30am on Wednesday morning,” Botha said.
The incident comes a month after a Sunningdale resident was given R20 000 bail for allegedly killing two men in a hit-and-run on the M4.
