La Lucia resident shot in armed robbery

The homeowner is in a serious but stable condition after being shot in the leg.

A LA Lucia resident was shot in the leg after an armed robbery at her home on Royan Place. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen the incident occurred just after 2pm.

“The suspects gained entry into the home while the homeowner was home alone. The armed suspects tied her up and locked her in a bedroom and ransacked the home. Before they could flee however, the woman’s husband returned home and a scuffle broke out resulting in the woman sustaining a gunshot wound to her leg.

“The suspects managed to flee the scene in a getaway vehicle. The vehicle was spotted in the Glen Anil area and after a high speed chase between SAPS and Marshall, the suspects managed to evade arrest and remain at large,” he said.

Van Reenen added the victim remains in a serious but stable condition in a nearby hospital.
