Employment scam taints department of public works

A fake employment agency is scamming job seekers out of R500.

JOB seekers across Durban have been warned against another recruitment scam doing the rounds.

According to a press statement released by the National Department of Public Work’s Thami Mchunu, a fake employment agency called Path Finders is scamming members of the public out of R500.

Mchunu said the scam artists send requests to ‘successful applicants’ to deposit the cash for an agency account.

The account supposedly belongs to a Martha B Lepogo.

“The employment seekers are also given a bogus Worker’s Membership form to fill with personal details including address and ID number,” added Mchunu.

She said the department would never ask prospective employers to pay a fee when applying for a position.
