City to extend call centre hours

The City's new billing system, the Revenue Management System (RMS) which took more 10 years to become operational, is causing problems for ratepayers.

THE eThekwini Municipality is extending its revenue call centre operating times from today (Monday 22 August). Spokesman for the city, Tozi Mthethwa said the move was due to the confusion over the new billing system.

The multi-million Rand computer systems which was ostensibly to make life simpler has caused major problems for ratepayers. The Revenue Management System (RMS) took more 10 years to become operational.

“Call centre operators will be available to answer any queries that you may have related to your consolidated bills. The call centre can be reached on 031 324 5000,” she said.

Monday to Friday 7.30am to 6.30pm and Saturday from 7.30 am to 3pm.

“Should customers prefer to email or fax their query, they can email revline@durban.gov.za or 031 324 5111.”
