Thief arrested with gym equipment

The suspect had attempted to break-into a house in Edgeley Road earlier in the day.

A MAN found in possession of stolen gym equipment was arrested earlier today on Northumberland Place. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the man had earlier attempted to break-in to a home on Edgeley Road.

“We were alerted through the Clarendon Neighbourhood Watch WhatsApp groups shortly after midday on Monday, to an attempted housebreaking in Edgeley Road. The homeowner reported that a man entered his garage on his property through the roof and attempted to steal a bicycle from the premises, however he was disturbed by the man and fled the scene on foot.

“A short while later, a suspect matching the description was seen running down Northumberland Place. The man was found to be in possession of the equipment taken from the premises. He was later positively identified by the homeowner in Edgeley Road,” he said.

The suspect was handed over to the SAPS.
