Petrol to decrease by 18 cents

Motorists will get a slight reprieve on Wednesday, with the petrol price set to decrease.

THE petrol price will decrease by 18 cents per litre this month, the Department of Energy has announced. The fuel price for all grades of petrol will decrease by 18 cents per litre, diesel will decrease by 48 cents per litre.

The Department of Energy said South Africa’s fuel prices are adjusted on a monthly basis, informed by international and local factors.

International factors include the fact that South Africa imports both crude oil and finished products at a price set at the international level, including shipping costs.

The main reasons for the fuel price adjustments are the strengthening of the Rand against the US Dollar during the period under review which cushioned the fuel prices by about 22 cents per litre.
