Durban North resident kidnapped and assaulted

The men dumped the victim at Blue Lagoon beach before speeding off.

A DURBAN North resident in his 20s was abducted, drugged and assaulted by a group of armed men driving a red VW Polo. The incident occurred on Friday at about 10am. The resident was walking along Norrie Crescent when the vehicle pulled up alongside him. Two men wearing balaclavas grabbed him and pulled him into the car. According to Kyle van Reenen of Marshall Security, the suspects then dumped the man at Blue Lagoon and drove off.

“We were called to help find him. According to the man the suspects assaulted him in the car. He spotted a number of needles in the car which the men then used to drug him. He was dumped at Blue Lagoon and tried to swim across the river to the mangroves side. He was helped by people on the pier who pulled him to safety. He was extremely traumatised by the incident and the Durban North/Umhlanga Crisis Team (DNUCT) were on hand to help counsel the victim and his family,” he said.

Van Reenen added the vehicle matched the description of another incident earlier this week where an Umbilo student was kidnapped and sexually assaulted.

“The Umbilo student was kidnapped and put in the car where the men sexually assaulted her. She managed to jump out of the vehicle on Waterkant Road and ran for help,” he said.
