Sunningdale woman injured as she flees robbers

The woman reportedly jumped from the first floor of her home to escape a gang of armed robbers.

A SUNNINGDALE woman was injured after she jumped from the first floor of her home to escape a gang of armed robbers on Friday.

Blue Security operations manager Brian Jackson said three armed men had gained entry into the Brookend Close property at around 1.49pm.

“The gang held up the family at gunpoint and robbed them of flat screen televisions, a laptop, cell phones, jewellery and three sets of vehicle keys,” he said.

“In a bid to flee from the premises the resident’s daughter jumped from the first floor of the property and sustained injuries to her leg. Netcare 911 paramedics stabilised her at the scene before transporting her to hospital,” he said.

This follows a similar incident where a couple was tied up in their Blossom Close home by a group of armed men on Tuesday.

According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, of the Durban North SAPS the suspects were armed with knives. After they subdued the couple with cable ties they ransacked the property.

They fled with cell phones, clothes and a Playstation.
