uMhlanga resident robbed in driveway

The value of items taken in the armed robbery was R20 000.

AN uMhlanga resident was robbed in the driveway of her Windsor Avenue home on Thursday afternoon. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, the incident occurred at about 11.30am.

“The woman had pulled into the driveway when she noticed two men pull up behind her. The suspects, who were armed with handguns, then tried to break into the car. The resident hooted several times for help and had locked herself in the car. The suspects however repeatedly struck the window before smashing one of the windows.

“The woman jumped out of the vehicle and managed to get away. The suspects took her handbag and fled the scene. We believe the men suspected the resident had a large amount of cash, hence the desperation to get in. In all, R20 000 worth of items were taken, which included a cell phone, cash and other valuables,” he said.
