Raising funds on the run for TAFTA

There will also be a collection on the day for various items to donate to the elderly.

RIVERSIDE Trail will host a fun run to raise funds for The Association for the Aged (TAFTA). The fundraiser takes place at Virginia Bush on Sunday, 20 November and the starting gun fires at 7am.

There are two distances to choose from, a 4km (R40) and an 8km (R80) race. Durban North resident, Alison Chadwick, said she is hoping residents support the event.

“The elderly are often forgotten; there is a lot of awareness around animal abuse and children’s homes but sadly we seem to neglect the elderly. All the funds raised will go towards the association’s needy pensioners fund. I urge residents to get involved in this worthy cause. The event is ideal for the fit and not so fit, young and old,” Chadwick said.

Entries have opened online at www.roag.co.za and close at midnight, 17 November. Late entries on the day will have an additional R20 to pay.

There will also be a collection on the day for various items. Bring along a toiletry item or packet of biscuits to help fill Christmas Cheer Boxes for needy pensioners.
