uMhlanga security guard robbed at gunpoint

The armed suspects demanded the security guard hand over his weapon.

A SECURITY guard was robbed by two men, armed with handguns, on Portland Drive in uMhlanga on Sunday night. The incident occurred at about 8.30pm confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.

The guard was patrolling near his security hut when he was noticed a black VW Polo pull up next to him. Two men, armed with handguns jumped out the vehicle and demanded his firearm. He told them he didn’t have a weapon and the men riffled through his pockets, stealing his wallet and cellphone. The men sped off on foot and the guard was unable to record the number plates,” he said.

Last month, a security guard was brutally murdered on Sibaya Drive. He was stabbed more than 30 times in a robbery for his firearm.
