TAKE NOTE: Numerous Durban road closures (20, 21 Feb)

Take note of how your route may be affected by the SANDF celebrations.

SOUTH African National Defence Force (SANDF) members have captivated Durbanites with various displays over the past week. However as the celebrations draw to a close, the military has reminded residents and motorists alike about road closures taking place today and tomorrow at various parts of Durban.

Monday, 20 February 

  • The M4 will be completely closed to traffic today between Argyle Road and Riverside Road. From 2pm to 4pm  and again at 7pm and 9pm. There will be a night combat shooting exercise. There will be possible noise disruptions from 7pm lasting for up to 45 minutes. The event is open to the public and guests must be seated by 6.30pm. The M4 bridge over the uMngeni river will be closed during this time and will be the ideal viewing point. (Be advised that this demonstration is live and the noise levels will be high. It is important to warn the young and members with animals or pets to take precautionary measures.)

Tuesday, 21 February 

  • Armed forces day parade with President Jacob Zuma as main dignitary: A number of roads will be closed during the parade which begins at 10am. Please take note of the various road closures listed below:
