Man stabilised following electrocution

Lucky escape for a man working in a trench in Umgeni Road.

A MAN has been left with second degree burns following an electrocution incident on Umgeni Road near Connaught Bridge this morning. The incident occurred just metres away from where a worker was trapped in a trench last month.

Garrith Jamieson of Rescue Care paramedics said the man had been electrocuted while working in a trench in the area.

“The contractor struck a live cable while working in a trench. He suffered second degree burns to his arms, face and chest. He was in a considerable amount of pain when we arrived, but was fully conscious The patient was stabilised and transported to hospital,” they said.
