SAPS swoop on illegal second-hand dealership

Greenwood Park SAPS promise more operations on a regularly basis.

MEMBERS of the SAPS Greenwood Park’s Fire Arms Liquor and Second Hand Department (FLASH) recently sent out a stern message to unscrupulous businesses and landlords after an operation led to the closure of an illegal second-hand shop in Sea Cow Lake.

According to station spokesman, Warrant Officer Leon Audh, various items at an unlicensed second hand dealership were recovered.

“Warrant Officer Errol Pandaram of the station, alongside members of Town Planning, Telkom and Metro Electricity swooped on an unlicensed dealership identified by the community. A thorough search of the property was done and aluminum, copper cables, laptops, bicycles and other items were seized. The dealer was given a notice to vacate the property and the land lord was also warned about harbouring criminals.

“Operations like these are being conducted regularly to ensure that dealers are licensed and compliant in terms of the second hand dealers act. This operation was to reiterate that we are checking all organisations for compliance according to criminal law,” he said.
