A SEARCH is ongoing for an Umgeni Park resident after he was last seen leaving his home on Hunters Way on Saturday morning (September 5).

Slade Thomas (60) was last seen between 06:00 and 06:30.

While a missing persons case has been registered at the Greenwood Park police station, Thomas’ family have enlisted the help of private investigator Brad Nathanson.

A R50 000 reward has been offered for any information leading to finding him.

“Slade was last seen wearing a black Auronautica tracksuit and white Nike sneakers. He left all his belongings behind. We have searched the Umgeni River, beaches and local parks. We have just had a thermal drone up looking in the bushes but nothing,” the investigator said.

In a post on his Facebook page, Nathanson explained that Thomas is depressed and not in his ‘right mind’.

He also condemned people who had attempted to take advantage of the situation by posting AI generated images of Thomas claiming he had been found.

“There is a family sitting at home who are already devastated by the disappearance of someone they love. Imagine seeing what appears to be a photograph of your missing father, husband, brother or friend and, for one horrible moment, believing that he has been found, only to discover that some idiot has fabricated the image,” he said.

Thomas’ family have thanked those who continue to search for him and say they hope he is found safe and sound.
