Police offer R250 000 reward for missing baby

More than 100 police officers are searching in various areas for the missing infant.

A REWARD of up to R250 000 has been offered by the police for information that will lead to the recovery of Siwaphiwe Mbambo, the missing baby girl. The one month old infant has been missing since Friday after a hijacking incident in Greyville. Her mother was forced out of her car, a white Toyota Yaris, and despite the vehicle being recovered in Montclair, there is still no sign of the missing child.

Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said more than 100 police officers and community members are involved in various searches around Durban.

“We are offering a reward of up to R250 000 to anyone who may provide us with information that will lead to the recovery of a baby and the arrest and conviction of the suspects. We are urging the community members who witnessed the incident or who knows the whereabouts of the baby to urgently contact the nearest police. So far we appreciate the assistance of some of the community members who are helping in finding the baby. Our Crime Stop can also be contacted on 08600 10111,” he said.
