Glenashley liquor store robbed by armed gang

The armed gang assaulted three staff members in the robbery.

A GLENASHLEY liquor store was robbed by five armed men just after 10am today. According to Marshall Security’s Kyle van Reenen, the armed gang were wearing balaclavas.

“The gang barged their way into the liquor store on Ashley Avenue. The staff of the bottle store were busy conducting their morning stock intake when the suspects stormed in. Three staff members were assaulted in the robbery, they were struck over the head with the butts of firearms. A large amount of stock and cash were taken in the robbery. The suspects fled in two vehicles in an unknown direction,” he said.

Craig Adendorff of Sun Cell Watch confirmed police, Marshall Security as well as Netcare 911 were on scene.
