5 things you didn’t know about Northglen News website

A few things you may not have known about the Northglen News website.

IN 2011, the Northglen News started its digital journey by starting an online website. Since then we’ve grown in leaps and bounds. We now have a Facebook page, a Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud and YouTube account.

And while we feature in many people’s daily routines, it’s easy to forget that we feature more than just local, breaking news. Here is a list of five things you didn’t know about our website.

1.  Every week we have a feature called ‘Things You Never Knew Existed’.

Each week we feature inventions no one thought would ever exist, but do. The article is normally published on weekends and has an accompanying video of the invention and how it works.  This week’s article featured a belt buckle with 12 built in tools.

2.  You can read your favourite newspaper online

We often have queries from former North Durban residents, living overseas, asking whether we have an online version of the paper, which we do. The online version of the newspaper can also be downloaded as a PDF. It can be read from your laptop, PC or tablet. You are also able to control the size of the print. The online version of the paper also includes all the inserts with specials from various stores. If you would like to view this week’s paper, just go to our homepage, scroll down to the third box on the extreme right hand side of your screen and voilà.

3. We have an international news section

Besides providing area-specific news, we also have a national news section, where other websites within the Caxton news group including The Citizen share their trending content. Apart from that, we also have an international news section supplied by the Agence France-Presse (AFP) international news agency.

4. We have a love section

We already have a Homes section, where you can view properties for sale, to rent and even calculate what bond you would pay in your area as well as nationally. You can also view business listings, filed under different categories, e.g ‘Food and drink’, ‘medical’ etc. Our love section is our most recent addition. It’s for the singletons out there and offers an online dating experience for him and her.

5. We have a video of the day

We are all guilty of trolling YouTube for funny videos for a laugh and a break from work. But did you know we feature a new video in our ‘Video of the Day’ section on our website from Monday to Friday.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
