WATCH: Revving to go as locals start car club

The club is about getting vintage, muscle and old sports car owners to meet and chat about cars.

TWO local residents have begun a car enthusiast club called Car Club Durban. Tyron Powell and James Murray who are both ‘petrol-heads’ said the club was for like-minded people to get together to show off their ‘rides’ and talk about cars over a cup of coffee or breakfast. They are hosting their first event on Sunday, 7 May, a cruise from uMhlanga to Tinley Manor.

James Murray, who owns a Ferrari California said the club was only formed a month ago.

“Since we started our Facebook page, we’ve had more than 600 likes, which is awesome. There seems to be a lot of people out there with common interest of cars. The club is about getting vintage, muscle and sports car owners to meet and chat about cars,” he said.

Tyron Powell said he has been a car enthusiast for most of his life.

“I met James a few years ago. A guy who was building our office knew James’ dad and said he had a Ferrari. He said he could organise a ride in one.  I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve been a car nut about my whole life, especially Ferraris. Whenever there are car shows or a motor museum, that’s where you’d find me,” Powell said.

If you would like to get involved with the club, visit their Facebook page.
