WATCH: Man rescued after being stuck under Connaught Bridge

It's unclear how the man managed to get himself stuck underneath the bridge.

MEMBERS of the Durban Search and Rescue, IPSS Rescue and Rescue Paramedics are currently at the Connaught Bridge in uMgeni Park. They have just rescued a man who was trapped on a pillar underneath the bridge. It’s believed the man had been stuck for two days before being spotted earlier this afternoon.

Garrith Jamieson, of Rescue Care said it’s unclear how the man got to where he is.

“The man was stuck there for two days. Rescuers are feeding him to get his energy up before attempting to move him using a rope system set in place. He can’t remember how he got under the bridge. It’s believed a fisherman spotted the man stuck under the bridge and alerted authorities. The man has been lowered to the bottom of the bridge by rescue workers,” he said.
