SUPPORT has been pouring in for Hunter Tilling, who is taking ‘baby steps’ in her recovery. The 23 year-old had been in a coma after a head-on-collision on Riverside Road last month. The Pinetown resident sustained serious head injuries, two broken vertebrae in her lower spine in the accident.

Durban North resident and close family friend, Danielle Santo, said Hunter was making slow progress.

“It is going to be a long road to recovery for her. I saw her on Thursday night and she is able to able to move her left leg and arms. She is still not able to communicate verbally yet. The response from the community has been incredible and extremely heartwarming. She is taking baby steps in her recovery. Hunter is working with physios twice a day. We please ask that everyone keeps her in their thoughts and prayers constantly,” she said.

Santo along with members of the Help Hunter Tilling Foundation are in the process of trying to arrange a golf day at the Mount Edgecombe Country Club on 21 July.

“At the moment we are looking for sponsors to sponsor holes and prizes. If anyone is keen to be involved please email me at helphuntertilling@gmail.com,” she said.

A Facebook page called Help Hunter Tilling was started in order to raise funds for Tilling’s medical bills after she was left without medical aid coverage.

Even Olympic swimmer Chad le Clos has got behind the npo pledging a message of support for Hunter.
