FOOTAGE of a large humpback whale getting scarily close to a boat off the coast of New Jersey has gone viral. The footage captured by Paul Ziolkowski, shows the mammal’s enormous head lurch from the ocean and open its jaws just inches from the side of the boat.

Several fish also ended up in Ziolkowski’s boat but the occupants of the boat escaped serious injury.

Humpback whales are capable of growing to 60 feet in length. The video has swiftly amassed more than 150 000 views since it was uploaded.
