Three killed in horror North Coast Road crash

The vehicle collided with a stationary truck.

THREE people were killed in a horrific accident on Chris Hani R0ad (North Coast) just after midnight. The accident occurred just before the Effingham Road intersection, confirmed Netcare 911 spokesman, Nick Dollman. Reports from the scene indicate a VW GTI crashed into the back of a stationary truck.

“It is unclear what caused the accident. There were four people in the vehicle which collided with the truck. The driver, a man who was 23-years-old was killed as well as a passenger in the back seat. The Jaws of Life had to be used to free the remaining passengers,” he said.

Kyle van Reenen of Crisis Medical confirmed that two of the occupants were declared dead on scene. According to van Reenen, the third person died after being transported to hospital.

“The cause of the collision is unknown and will form subject of a South African Police Services investigation,” he said.
