Man arrested in Glenashley after fatal accident

A pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle in the accident later died on the scene.

A MAN was arrested on Saturday after an alleged hit-and-run on Chris Hani Road (North Coast) on Saturday afternoon. According to Marshall Security’s Tyron Powell, the driver was followed by a member of the public who witnessed the accident.

“After striking the pedestrian, the driver fled the scene. A member of the public called Marshall Security and relayed the whereabouts of the driver. He was eventually stopped and arrested in Glenashley. Sadly the pedestrian involved in the accident died. The man was handed over to SAPS for further investigation,” Powell said.

Attempts to get hold of the Greenwood Park SAPS have been unsuccessful.

The accident on North Coast Road came hours after a horror crash claimed the lives of three people.  Brothers, Mubeen and Moazzam Alli and Mika Moodley were killed in a crash involving a VW GTI and a truck.
