Man charged with drunk driving after Sibaya crash

The accident occurred just before midnight on Friday.

DURBAN North SAPS have charged a man with drunk driving and reckless and negligent driving after a crash on Sibaya Drive. The accident occurred just before midnight on Friday. According to Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS, the driver of the vehicle was taken  to hospital with several head injuries.

“It’s unclear how the accident occurred but the driver in a VW Polo crashed into the back of a man driving a Toyota Yaris. We suspect the drunk driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt because his head struck the windscreen. We have opened a case of drunk driving as well as reckless and negligent driving against the man who is currently under police guard at a Durban hospital,” he said.

The driver of the other vehicle escaped serious injury.
