SAPS nab four car thieves in uMgeni Park

Police are trying to link the suspects to other car thefts in the north Durban area.

THE DURBAN North SAPS Field Unit as well as Detective Sipho Shezi arrested four men on Friday afternoon for car theft. Acting on information from recent investigations the police, who were in an unmarked vehicle, followed the men who were spotted near a hotel in the Riverside area confirmed Capt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for the Durban North SAPS.

“The suspects were spotted in a Ford Ranger which had recently been stolen from the Durban area. We pulled the vehicle over and arrested the men who were charged with car theft. We believe they were scouting the area looking for a vehicle to steal. Our investigations are ongoing and we are trying to link them to other car thefts in the area,” he said.

The men will appear in Durban Magistrate’s Court soon.
