Mbete: MPs will make #NoConfidenceVote via a secret ballot

Mbete said her decision is in the best interests of the country.

NATIONAL Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete has granted a secret ballot debate on a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

Addressing the media in parliament, Mbete said she took the extraordinary approach “in the interest of transparency” and her decision is in the best interests of the country. She announced her decision on Monday afternoon.

Both the DA and EFF said they had the assurance of a large number of ANC MPs who would vote with the opposition should National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete call for a secret ballot.
