VIDEO-No injuries as plane crashes on KZN beach

It is believed the occupants of the plane were travelling from Umkomaas on the south coast to Virginia Airport.

TWO occupants of a light aircraft walked away unharmed after a crash on a beach on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast on Saturday morning. The two-seater plane crashed onto Illovo Beach’s Elizabeth Drive. Garrith Jamieson from Rescue Care Paramedics, who treated the occupants, said it was unclear what caused the accident.

It is understood the pilot and passenger were travelling from Umkoomas to Virginia Airport when the incident occurred.

“It’s unclear what led to the crash but that will be investigated by the relevant authorities. Both occupants of the plane escaped serious injury,” he said.

In 2016, a plane crash on Virginia Beach grabbed headlines after rescuers struggled to remove the wreckage due to the rough seas.
