Ally ready to take on world’s best
The 17-year-old Danville Park Girls' High School learner is representing the South African junior team in both the stillwater and beach events.
AS far as international competitions go, Durban North’s Ally Chislett has all the experience and drive to succeed. Last year she represented South Africa at the DHL International Surf Rescue Challenge (ISRC) 2017 at Mount Maunganui (New Zealand) and then was on national duty again at the Orange Cup in Holland.
Ally is hoping her experience at the most recent event in Holland, which was an exclusive stillwater competition, will count in her favour for this year’s Lifesaving World Championships (LWC) in Adelaide (Australia).

“I’m excited and really looking forward to the competition. The Orange Cup featured a number of competitors that will be attending the world champs so I have a gauge of what to expect. My goal is just to make everyone proud and do my best. I specialise in the swimming events and I have both mentally and physically prepared as much as I can with my coach Alistair Hatfield.
“The competition will be tough as the Aussies have home ground advantaged and we all know they will be geed up for the event. I have a strong background in swimming events so I’m hoping to draw on my experience and success to make an impact at the champs,” she said.
In the stillwater section of the champs, Chislett will be competing at the 200 metres obstacle race, 100 metre combined and 50 metres mannequin race.
For the beach events, she will be taking part in the surf swim (an event which she won at the SA champs), taplin and tube rescue.
