GIVING back to the community has always been something Lil and Scott Kimble have been passionate about. Over the weekend, the duo who own Off The Grid Athletic (OTG) strength and conditioning facility hosted the ‘Dawn of the Dead’ a “deadlift only” competition in aid of the Phoenix Animal Care & Treatment (PACT).

Before the competition, the duo had called on participants to donate pet food for the NPO and also raised funds for PACT.

“We raised R10 000 in cash which is just fantastic. The competitors and participants also donated more than 500 kilograms of pet food and we also managed to get R26 000 worth of flea/tick vaccinations. We’ve been holding this competition in aid of PACT for a number of years now and the response gets bigger and better each year. I’m thrilled that we can give back to PACT because of the amazing work they do.

“We love animals and often support local animal charities and we couldn’t be happier with what we’ve achieved. I’d like to thank each and everyone who contributed on the day,” Lil said.

Neeri Naidoo, one of the founders of PACT said she too was blown away by the support.

“Lil and Scott have been amazing, so have the powerlifting community. I think they’ve shown enormous heart and words can’t express how thankful we are to everyone who contributed to our cause. Just this week we had run out of pet food for our rescues, so to have more than 500 kilograms of pet food is incredibly humbling and exciting because we can continue making a difference to the lives of our rescues,” she said.
