THE Crusaders Running Club will host its Running Beer Mile on Saturday, 20 July. The event, now in its fourth year will raise funds for the Durban & Coast SPCA as well as the Sunflower Fund and will act as a general fundraiser for the club.

Chairman of the club, Mark Reeves said he hopes to see as many residents get involved in the fun event.

Every year, we choose to do a different fundraiser for the charity and this year we decided on the Beer Mile concept.

Basically it’s a staged race, where runners down a beer and then complete a 400 metre course around the club four times. The event is open to everyone and it’s just a great way to give back to deserving charities while also having an awesome time.

“We are encouraging people to dress-up and get involved. The dress theme of the event is to dress in anything starting with the letters, C, R and U. This will also serve as a fundraiser for the club and a portion of the entry fees will be donated towards the two charities. We are also hoping to have a representative from the SPCA come down with a dog to encourage the participants,” Reeves said.
