Tow truck driver dies in rollover crash near KwaMashu off-ramp
A tow truck driver has died after a rollover crash on the N2 southbound near the KwaMashu off-ramp leading to Chris Hani Road.
ONE person has died after a single vehicle rollover on the N2 (southbound) just before the KwaMashu off-ramp today.
It is believed a tow truck driver may have suffered a medical emergency before losing control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway.
“KZN VIP paramedics arrived at the scene and found the driver severely entrapped within the wreckage,” explained KZN VIP spokesperson Gareth Naidoo. “Sadly, despite the urgent response, he showed no signs of life and was declared deceased at the scene.

“This was an especially difficult scene for our team. The deceased was someone we knew and had worked alongside on numerous accident scenes. Like many tow truck operators, he worked long and demanding hours, often responding during the most difficult circumstances to assist motorists and emergency personnel.”
Naidoo said they mourn not only the loss of a tow truck operator, but also a colleague within the emergency response community.
He added the circumstances leading up to the crash remain unconfirmed.
