WATCH: Residents tell us what Mandela Day means to them

Hundreds of volunteers pitched in today to take part in Grace Family Church uMhlanga's Mandela Day activities.

HUNDREDS of volunteers threw their weight behind Grace Family Church uMhlanga’s Mandela Day activities on Thursday. Corporates, local businesses and church members took part in various activity stations set-up to help the underprivileged.

Volunteers made sandwiches for the hungry, donated blood, rolled yarn for the church’s crochet training programme, packed toiletries for the homeless and packaged vegetable seedlings which will be sent to communities in need.

We spoke to three people, who gave up their time on the day, to find out what Mandela Day means to them. Here’s what they had to say:

All the proceeds from the day will go towards various organisations including iCare, Key of Hope, Cross Roads, Sinakekele Children and the Summerhill House.
