City warns of criminals posing as municipal workers

The warning comes after an attempted robbery at a home north of Durban last Wednesday.

THE eThekwini Municipality has issued a warning to residents in Durban’s northern suburbs to be aware of criminals pretending to be municipal workers.

This comes after an attempted robbery at a home north of Durban last Wednesday.

eThekwini spokesperson Mandla Nsele said in that incident three individuals attempted to gain entry into a residential property in the north Durban last week.

“When the owner asked for their credentials, they immediately fled in a white bakkie. Please do not let anyone into your property if they do not have valid credentials or if they seem suspicious,” he said.

Northglen News has also covered stories on two incidents in Rosehill and Park Hill where criminals, posing as municipal workers, held up and robbed two elderly homeowners.

In the worst incident last month, Letitia Ferreira was assaulted and tied-up in a robbery on Lancaster Grove following the same modus operandi.
