IN a bid to lift the Covid-19 blues and inspire the community to get outdoors, Durban North resident, Jason McCall has created the Durban North Neighbourhood Treasure Hunt.

The fun community initiative kicked off at midday on Friday, 23 October and it will run until November. With several prizes to be won, it’s free for the community to join in.

The final clue will be posted on Saturday, 7 November and the winner will be announced thereafter.

“The clues are not going to be easy, but the prizes are massive, so we really want as many people as possible involved. Besides, what a great way to spend the morning, solving riddles and exploring your neighbourhood. There are a few sneaky spot prizes so best you keep your eyes peeled on the Facebook page and the clues,” he said.

While the prizes add extra excitement to the treasure hunt, they will also help to boost the local economy, said McCall.

“RocoMamas Durban North has sponsored thousands of Rands in vouchers; there is a two night’s stay for four at Rainbow Retreat in Karkloof and Prestige Durban North is offering a free term at their school for a child. Saltwood Furniture and Décor have a massive braai board up for grabs and Broadacres are offering a free month enrolment at their school and there are other local businesses putting their hands up to get involved too, which is great. In that way we are helping the local neighbourhood economy too, which is a real buzz,” he added.
